Kiran Rao’s “Laapataa Ladies” audition tape with Aamir Khan gets viral; Ravi Kishan publishes a post describing his version as “better.”

Bollywood star Aamir Khan, who co-produced Laapataa Ladies with his friend, ex-wife, co-producer, and director Kiran Rao, had previously disclosed that he tried out for a part in the movie. The actor recently posted a video of himself trying out for the part of Inspector Shyam Manohar in the movie on his YouTube page.

The video opens with Kiran and writer Divyanidhi Sharma discussing with main actor Sparsh Shrivastava who introduced the concept of Inspector Manohar—played by Ravi Kishan in the movie—eating betel leaves as a character feature. According to Kiran, when Aamir tried out for the part, he gave the character this mannerism.

In a video that has now gone viral on social media, we see Aamir as the betel-chewing, irritable police officer.

On his official Facebook page, Ravi Kishan posted a video of the footage with the remark, “Aamir Khan tried out for Ravi Kishan’s role in Laapata Ladies but was turned down.”

Aamir was also commended by many users for acknowledging that Ravi was a better fit for the position.
