In the midst of Bangkok’s devastation following Friday’s terrible earthquake that killed thousands in Bangkok, Myanmar, and Thailand, a newborn’s birth in the streets offered some hope. During the huge earthquake, doctors in Bangkok gave birth to a baby outside the Police General Hospital.
Despite the fact that the patient was apparently undergoing surgery at the time of the 7.7-magnitude tremors, the doctors were compelled to leave the facility. According to hospital spokesperson Police Colonel Sirikul Srisanga, the patient gave birth to a boy while being escorted out of the hospital by medical teams and surrounded by medical personnel.
Videos of the event, which showed the woman lying on a stretcher while medical personnel assisted with the birth outside, went viral on social media. According to NDTV, the video also showed the stretchers of a number of more patients being transported into the courtyards so that medical professionals could continue treating them.
“An earthquake happened as the abdominal wall was being closed. According to Police Lieutenant Colonel Jiramrit, the surgical team made the decision to stabilize the patient and move them to a safer area.
