A group of law school students has started a poll to find holes in the current system so that legal education is available to everyone.
Seven law school students from various institutions are gathering data from people with disabilities (PwD) who have taken the Common Law Admission Test (CLAT), All India Law Entrance Test (AILET), or plan to take any of these exams as part of the Samavesh Project, an initiative run by the non-profit Awaaz Leadership Labs in New Delhi.
According to a note, the exercise’s objectives are to gather data, find weaknesses in the current legal admission exam system, offer recommendations, and suggest model guidelines to the appropriate authorities.
“A range of abilities must be represented by those who create the laws that govern the country. The situation will change once we are able to send stakeholders to the positions of lawmaking,” says team member Sushanth Gajula, a law graduate who is visually impaired.
