The makers of the horror comedy The Bhootni, starring Sanjay Dutt, unveiled the trailer in Mumbai on Saturday, March 29. The movie, which was once called The Virgin Tree, centers on a tree sprite (Mouni Roy) that preys on virgin lads on Valentine’s Day.
Sidhaant Sachdev is the writer and director of the horror comedy. In addition to Dutt and Roy, Sunny Singh, Palak Tiwari, and Aasif Khan are featured in the movie. The movie marks the Bollywood debut of content creator Nikunj Lotia, best known by his stage name Beyounick.
The movie is about a college where the ghost of “the virgin tree” haunts them every year. The students enlist the aid of Baba (Sanjay Dutt), a former student who rose to fame as a ghostbuster (Baba is also Dutt’s moniker in the film business), to rid their beloved college of its “haunted” tag. The clip blends dramatic CGI action/horror scenes with romantic and humorous moments. Mouni Roy lights up the screen as the irate “bhootni,” utilizing her extensive repertoire of supernatural twists.
